The Rivers Trust release new video to explain Natural Flood Management interventions

A new video has been released by our partners The Rivers Trust to help explain the different types of Natural Flood Management interventions that could be considered as part of the new Investment Readiness project in the Wyre Catchment.

Launched on 1st June, this complementary project to Natural Course, will receive grant funding to explore the role of sustainable private sector investment for the benefit of the local community and the surrounding environment.

The seed funding from Defra, the Environment Agency and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and tailored support from Triodos, will allow The Rivers Trust to work with Wyre Rivers Trust, Environment Agency, United Utilities, Triodos Bank, Co-op Insurance and Flood Re to develop a financial instrument that would allow upfront investment from the private sector to be reimbursed by the beneficiaries of a healthier environment.

Using data to drive decision making, the project will prioritise the most effective natural solutions for the landscape. These solutions, identified in the video, could provide long-term flood resilience and significant wider environmental and social benefits to the catchment and its community.
